Advice for caramelpersuasion from wailingbeandsidhe!

It’s a really common misconception that extension is all about leg strength; core strength is really the key. Once you learn how to engage the right deep abdominal and stabilizing muscles, your leg will float up higher with so little effort, I promise. So, IMO, Pilates and abdominal stabilizing exercises (like side planks, side planks with leg lifts) are some of the most beneficial daily practices for any dancer.

Also, tight hip flexors can hamper extension. Find a Pilates teacher, PT, or massage therapist to help you find and learn how to stretch/massage your psoas muscles. It will make a world of difference!
