sammgotdamn asked: Its actually really bad for dancers to tuck their pelvis' under. There is a natural curve in the lower back, and you want to maintain that. The problem is that in ballet, many people tend to arch their backs farther than what is considered normal alignment. And this "tucking" is sometimes given as a counter measure to an arched back to get the body back in to alignment....
-newperspective asked: For anon 2, a dancers back while doing a plie: it should be straight, with her tail bone tucked under and shoulders pressed down. :)
Suggestions in the ask box!
Anon 1 needs a way to lose weight without doing the classic diet! He/she has had a hard time dieting.
Anon 2 wants to know how a dancer’s back should look like while doing a plie at barre.

Dance imagery in Frick Collection Renoir show,...
The Frick Collection (museum in a mansion on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan) is opening a Renoir show next Tuesday. The exhibition includes a lot of beautiful dance imagery that I thought might be of interest. http://www.frick.org/assets/PDFs/Press_2011/Renoir_heading.pdf
