dazzle-yourself-deactivated2012 asked: I love your blog and ballet. k thats it<3
wabii-sabii asked: About cleaning pointe shoes, my dance teacher always makes us put a layer or two (or more if they need it) of calamine lotion on them using cotton wool. It covers any marks and makes them look smart, plus it's easy to just dab over any new marks when you get them x
ginachka asked: Most of our class just dumps their shoes in the laundry machine. But if you want to preserve the shoe (considering most shoes are plastic and they melt in the wash) use a toothbrush and baking soda. Mine are wooden and it works just fine on them :) Gets them all nice and clean.
Anon wants to know how to clean her pointe shoes....
god-gave-you-feet-to-point-them asked: which pointe shoes do you have?
today i bought gaynor minden (in green bag) at the first time and i think they're very good. please, tell me which are the best? :'D

letmyfeetdothetalking asked: About the anon who got gum stuck in her hair:
If you can still get your hair into a hair band, use a fake bun like this http://s582.photobucket.com/albums/ss266/cr8z4music/?action=view¤t=Photo279.jpg
I have extremely thin and sort of short hair and it seems to do the trick. Just stick your ponytail (no matter how short) through the hole, pin down your hair to it, put a hair...

Just a word of advice.
If you want something, don’t just sit around all day crying that you don’t have what you want.
Get your fucking ass off the ground and work for it. If you don’t have it even after you try, then you can moan and whine and do whatever you want. I’m so tired of people confronting me in person and whining to me about their problems. I can’t sympathize with you because...

This week's questions... Suggestions go in the ask...
So I’ve decided that from now on, I’ll open up all questions to everybody because a) I can acquire knowledge and b) it’s nice to know what others think. Probably a lot of turnout questions, because I’m having a hard time with that also. :)
Anon: Turnout help especially in tendu a la seconde?
mypointes: Developing the correct muscles for extension?
Anon: Where to get...
Anonymous asked: Hey, i love your blog! I used to dance when I was younger, but I had to stop, after my 5th year, cause I had major back surgery. I was about to get onto pointe, so it was completely devastating for me. That was all during my freshman year in high school. I'm now a senior, and when I saw your blog, it made be begin to miss it. I now use my old demi-pointe and practice old combinations.I'm...

Pull your hair back in to a pony tail (as best as you can). Make sure to use lots of hairspray/gel if you need to. Find some fake hair (local beauty shop, it doesn't have to be high quality or match perfect; my friends paid less than $20 for theirs). Wrap it...

Anonymous asked: How many hours a day do you dance?
jumpinginto-theunknown asked: To the anon who asked about the bun because of gum in the hair-
If you know how to braid or know someone that can teach you definitely braid it. If you're struggling to get it up into a bun then try two braids kinda like pigtails but all your hair is tucked away

redredlipsohmy-deactivated20130 asked: To the anon who wanted to know how to do her hair, I would suggest just pulling it into a pony tail if it's THAT short. If it's long enough to a bun, but pieces are sticking out, split the pony tail into two pieces and then do a bun with two pieces. I would also suggest putting a bunheads hairnet in, too.

dontmesswithcupid asked: hello! i can relate to the 18 year old who wanted to start ballet. My parents wouldn't allow me to take dance because they didn't think it was as legitimate as other sports, and so I started ballet when I was 18...when I got to college. It was the most difficult thing I have done, and I found myself discouraged and resenting my parents for not putting me in class earlier. Once they...

Anonymous asked: I got gum in my hair and had to get it cut to shoulder length and now I'm really struggling with my bun. My hair is really thick and wavy too. Any advice is welcome!
sweetpea10-deactivated20121118 asked: I took dance all my life. I started taking from a woman down the street from me and I got to be really fantastic, going for several hours four or five times a week, but then she got sick and had to stop teaching. I took a year off and missed it far too much. I decided to go where some of my friends took lessons and when I got there, there was no discipline at all. I felt as though everyone there...
Anonymous asked: I'm 18 and have wanted to do ballet my whole life, but my parents told me it would never get me anywhere. So, finally i'm old enough to do what I want, but isn't 18 a little old to start? I would love to do point. How long would that take?
fairytalemoments asked: Hey :) This is just to add on to the person who quit ballet when they were younger and doesn't know if they'll ever be able to do pointe.
I didn't start dancing until I was 11 years old, which can be considered quite late when you're in a class with girls who started when they were 4 or 5. I only did jazz, then started tap the next year. I never thought I'd...

I also have scoliosis :/ It's tough. I have a link below to a thorough but general post about improving arabesques. But with scoliosis, you need to go beyond what's in that post.
